What i do to read successfully...
the first thing i do when i read is find a comfortable place, not too comfortable because no matter how interesting the book is i will fall asleep. the second thing i do is make sure where i am reading is completely quiet, or has little to few distractions. it makes it easier to read and understand what i read. the third thing i do is take notes, not long boring notes just little things to remember, like who characters are, what they look like etc. this makes it easier for my brain to understand and remember someone for a test. the fourth thing i do is i try to end on a spot where i can easily pick it up and start reading again, like the end of a chapter. if you stop in the middle of a chapter, in my opinion, i feel like you would get lost and have to reread some of the page to remember whats going on. another thing you could do when you read is mark in your book(only if you own it of course). if you do not own it then use sticky notes or tabs. personally i used to hate reading. i dreaded reading books for class because usually they were not interesting to me at all. but i soon found my solution to help me read. since then it makes me understand and enjoy what i read. now i can sit back relax and actually get some reading done.

Letter to Val
Dear Val,
I can not imagine how you are feeling about the "incident". It must be really hard to think about your boyfriend Nick becoming a monster like that. You loved him and he loved you. You loved the way you guys connected and understood each other, or so you thought. I also can't imagine what was going through your mind when he shot the first victim. It was shocking and really scary. If I went to Garvin high i would not have been mad at you, I would of been angry with nick. it would of been a little nerve racking to see you return to school but i wouldn't treat you they way some of the students did when you first got to school. You are already scarred for life because of what happened, you don't need all the bull crap on top of it. what happened isn't your fault. It was just a stupid high school thing that went way, way too far. a lot of people do have that "one person" like you said. i even have a couple but i would never want anything like that to happen to them ever. All I am saying is that you shouldn't blame yourself. You stopped it. You saved lives of who knows how many he was capable of shooting? The whole situation makes me sick to my stomach. Its like a huge dream that you never wake up from, like how you cant even grasp the fact that someone close to you has died. Its so unfair. Its so unreal.
Sincerely, Presley

a story that must be told
I currently did a book chat and i talked about the book a child called it. This book is no doubt a must read! It's a TRUE story about a boy named David who gets abused by his alcoholic mother. David is just a regular human being just like me and you, but his mother didn't see him as part of their family. he was called "the boy". David had three other brothers who did not get abused. talk about unfair and humiliating. His mother was an alcoholic and would always take out her anger of poor little David. some of the most intense parts of this novel was when David's mother made him drink a spoon full of ammonia, which could kill you. She also burnt him purposely on the stove and made him eat his little brother's dirty diaper. talk about ridiculous. i think its even insane she came up with some of these nasty "punishments". This story is just incredible, sickening, sad, breathtaking, and intense all in one. i love this book because it is a true story and it happened to the author, David Pelzer It took him a whole lot of courage to write such a heart warming book about his terrible childhood. I believe that he wanted people to know about his childhood and how horrible child abuse is. All forms of abuse should be STOPPED! In my opinion people who abuse children or even animals for that matter deserve to get a taste of their own medicine! What do you think?
p.s. David Pelzer has two books that follow a Child Called it, called The lost boy, and A Man Named Dave
